Kathie's note: I worked with Lacy's brother, Beau, in sports broadcasting. He ran the audio board for the University of Kentucky and mine was the University of Texas. There were probably a dozen of us in the basement, in and out, with different schools and teams, pinch-hitting for one another on occasion. There's something about those live broadcasts, when anything can happen and often does, and many long hours, that made all of us foxhole friends. Stories, secrets, histories. It could get real. Sometimes extra family members came with the program, so to speak. Beau's sister, Lacy, for example. I got to know her through a couple of voice-over projects also, and I served as her book doula when she wrote Engaging the Heart of Hospice: Making Funeral and Memorial Services an Extension of Hospice Care.
