【本期简介】
宋襄公（？-前637年），姓子，名兹甫，宋氏。春秋时期宋国君主宋桓公次子，宋成公之父。春秋宋国君主，春秋五霸之一。宋襄公即位前，曾让国与其庶兄公子目夷，并参加葵丘会盟。即位后，任用公子目夷为相，平定齐国内乱。
宋襄公即位后，在政治上特别倡导修行仁义，并主张以此争得中原盟主地位。在国际上，宋襄公紧跟齐桓公，积极维护齐国的霸权。同时宋国大夫正考父非常赞扬宋襄公的精神，认为宋襄公的伟大可追述如同契、汤等商王朝圣者的精神，因而作了“商颂”来称赞宋襄公。
