中研院是台灣最重要的研究單位之一，大家有疑惑過為什麼它的英文名稱是看起來和中文沒有關聯的 Academia Sinica 嗎？這和它的歷史有很大的關係，其中也不乏政治色彩。
生化所的研究除了癌症之外，也致力於找出傳染疾病 -- 例如 SARS、結核病，當然還有 COVID -- 相關的治療方法及疫苗，同時也透過國際間的合作，用科學實力增加中研院的國際地位。
