Show Topic: PART 2 FAMILIES IMPACTED BY GUN VIOLENCE

Derek Olivier, an Arkansas Baptist College student, was shot and killed in September 2012 near the campus while helping a group with car trouble. The case is still unsolved. He left his Louisiana life as a star high school football player and brought his talents to Arkansas Baptist University in the summer of 2012.

Just months later his parents Mr. and Mrs. Alma Olivier would receive that call that parents never want to receive, that Derek had been the victim of gun violence. Derek stopped to help a group of men change a flat tire near campus that evening. Derek was not an intended target. Instead, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time just helping a stranger when he could.

Join the Cohosts Chiefs with this week’s guest the mother of Derek, Mrs. Alma Olivier as they talk about how families like the Olivier are impacted by gun violence.
