Kids are still an afterthought in reforms championed by lawmakers and pushed by police departments. But in case after case, children as young as 6 have been treated harshly even brutally by police officers. The recent viral video of a 10-year-old being handcuffed for peeing behind his mother’s car by a Mississippi police officer. Has again raised many concerns about why officers are so quick to handcuff black children. The boy’s mother says he remains traumatized by the incident.
