In the land of Tolria there resides a great college, known as the Third Shield. This university teaches some of the world’s most renowned scholars and explorers, even beyond Tolria itself, from all walks of life. Even the most dense of bugbears are able to learn from this academy. Tolria’s finest comes from this school, and students from even beyond the borders of Mariton where it is located are more than welcome.

At the end of the year, during the 15th shard, a festival is held to judge and critique student’s work over the first semester of each school year. It is formally known as the End of Year Final Test Festival of the Third Shield College, but due to its rather lengthy name, most shorten it down to just “Testival”. Here, they must impress both teachers and investors alike, as many expeditions, inventions, magical talents, and even in rare cases artistic abilities are graded and occasionally funded by donors and benefactors who wish to have their names attached to these fantastical projects. People from all over the land of Tolria make their way to the festival, as it has become one of the greatest expos of both mechanical and magical talent in the world.

At this festival, we meet four people, each with their own reasons for attending. The first is a student, attempting to win over the judges and just pass this semester to make it to the next. The second is a mascot of sorts, whose hijinks around campus are known to many a student, and cursed by teachers numerous. The third of our company is a guard, hired by the school to protect the people of the festival and ensure the peace is maintained. The final member is an attendee, but not of the usual kind. Rather than appreciating the magical arts of the college, she wishes to have the people repent for their “blasphemous witchcraft ways”. Perhaps it is because of a rejection of her own gift of power, of which she has little control.

Though these four barely know each other, they must come together to prevent a disastrous incident from destroying the school and ending the Testival forever. Welcome to Young Misadventurers: Third Shield Show and Tell.
