  • Much More.

About Sean:
SEAN BJERKE is a dance teacher and martial artist based in Boston, MA. He is a life-long Tae Kwon Do practitioner, and 4th dan master instructor at the JH Kim TKD Institute. Sean began dancing in his late teen years, and it was his first mentor, Ricardo Foster Jr who introduced him to American street & club dance styles. In 2007, Sean was formally introduced to house music & dance, which became his primary passion moving forward. While the dance was his entry point, Sean gradually developed a stronger connection to the music and greater culture from which house dance was born. Along the way, Sean has been lucky to learn under house pioneers from NYC, including Dance Fusion's Sekou Heru, Caleaf Sellers and Tony McGregor, and also how to effectively piece basic movements together from Jardy Santiago. Sean currently studies under Brazil's Edson Gonzaga, with whom he organizes yearly Brazil to Boston workshop & party series.
As a dancer, Sean wears many hats. He is a co-artistic director of Boston's award-winning CONcept ARTists (CONart) dance company (2012-present). He has choreographed numerous dance performances for CONart, and helped produce their yearly urban arts celebration CONcentrate on the ARTistry. He danced as a member of Boston's Beantown Lockers (2013-16) and in 2016, helped produce Vaudeville Funk, Boston's first locking showcase since the 80's, featuring locking creator Don "Campbellock" Campbell. Sean has been hired to teach & choreograph for numerous dance companies and organizations, including Berklee College's Commercial Dance Intensive and internationally at Argentina's Just Dance Festival, where he also served as a battle judge. He currently teaches weekly house dance classes in Cambridge/Boston, and has working relationships with several universities: he has taught for Boston University's REACH program, organized performances & seminars for Tufts' Dances at Noon, and was an adjunct dance professor at Connecticut College in 2019.
Through his teaching, Sean emphasizes a connection to both house music and culture. The music informs the dance, while the culture provides the space for a complex ecosystem of movers, musicians, DJs, event organizers, venues and parties to continue to develop and thrive.
