Es geht auf große Sommerferienreise, den Fluss der Zeit hinab. Die vier Jungs des heutigen Films – in Szene gesetzt von Trickfilmlegende Karel Zeman – paddeln im Rückwärtsgang durch unterschiedliche Erdzeitalter, vorbei an Mammuts und Stegosauriern bis ins Silur, wo sie endlich einen Trilobiten finden. Für Simon geht es gerade mal schlappe vierzig Jahre zurück, denn Sebastian nimmt ihn mit ins Kindergartenkino.
