Today Pastor Glen Thomas looks at the readings for the Twenty-Third Sunday after Pentecost, Series A in the Three Year Lectionary. These readings emphasize the “Day of the Lord” and the Second Coming of Christ. The Amos 5, God informs His people that the “Day of the Lord” will be a day of judgment for them. In the 1 Thessalonians 4, Paul informs us of what will to God’s people who are alive and those who have died on the day Christ returns. In Matthew 25, Jesus tells the parable of the 10 virgins, stressing that His followers should be prepared when He returns.
