Anger is a thief that steals your peace if it is not released in a healthy way. When people labeled me an angry black woman I got really angry. When my kids were making poor choices, I got angry. When my marriage ended I was angry for years. I spent more time dwelling on past hurt than I did rejoicing in a blessed future. I had no joy and no peace. I was depressed and sad. Until I realized if I did not change my mindset, anger was going to be the death of me. I opted for peace. Peace that only God could give. Peace at last!
"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." Isaiah 26:3
Are you in a situation where you are aware that anger is keeping you from God's peace, but you can't seem to let it go. Has anger hooked you like a fish on a hook and you can't shake it off? Whatever the reason for holding on to anger, one thing I've found to be true is that anger is dangerous; it robs you of a peaceful and abundant life that Jesus came to give. There is hope, you don't have to succumb to anger and allow it to rob you of your blessings. You get to choose whether to stay angry or to let it go and be at peace.
