평생 힘없는 약자의 편에 서고, 민주화, 통일운동에 헌신했던 고(故) 백기완 선생 (1932-2021)을 추모하는 ‘인물다큐’ 〈산자여 따르라!〉를 KBS와 공동기획으로 제작했습니다. 뉴스타파가 3년전인 2017년 약 60일 동안 1,789분 분량으로 선생과 인터뷰를 진행했던 촬영기록을 바탕으로 KBS와 협업해 다시 제작했습니다. 광풍이 몰아친 한국 현대사의 고난을 온몸으로 견뎌온 선생의 삶의 궤적을 조명하고, 그의 생각, 지향을 담아냈습니다. 백기완 선생의 49재를 맞는 오는 4월, 뉴스타파는 독립PD와 연대해 선생이 생전에 남긴 미공개 영상 300개를 바탕으로 ‘불쌈꾼 백기완’의 삶을 다룬 다큐를 제작 방송할 예정입니다.
