  • Eric Edgar Cooke
  • Born 25 February 1931
  • Put to death: 26 October 1964,
  • nicknames: the "Night Caller" and later the "Nedlands Monster",
  • Active Serial Killer: From September 1958 to August 1963,
  • Cooke terrorized the city of Perth, Western Australia,
  • He committed at least twenty-two violent crimes and eight of which resulted in deaths.
  • Cooke had a violent alcoholic father who beat him and his mother
  • Cooke stared petty theft while in kindergarten
  • He began undertaking arson, burglary and other criminal activity which grew as he did.
  • Cooke was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was would commit his various crimes during sprees
  • He had many differing M/O's and this made it hard for police to link his crimes.
  • he used a range of different weapons including knifes, scissors, axes and varying rifles of differing calibers', as well as cars that he would steal and run women over in.
  • Cooke's criminal preference had no linkages either, he was happy to kill any one, with no particular linkage or any reason.
  • It was good policing that finally put a stop to this monsters rampage, the police found his gun leaning against a tree, and replaced it with a non working one, that Cooke later went to pick up from it's hiding place, he was arrested and later charged with many of the crimes he confessed to.
  • Cooke was hanged on 26th Oct 1964
