Winnie Sseruma has been working as an international consultant for over two decades. She focuses on health training, community research, programme evaluations, and technical assistance. Mostly she supports community-based organisations responding to issues of social justice, women in leadership, and HIV and AIDS.

In a deeply personal and engaging conversation, Winnie describes how she became what she calls an 'accidental consultant' and how she spent 3 years immersed in the HIV world, from treatments to policy to support groups and more. She describes her journey as a steep learning curve and how learning to say no could be one of the most important lessons for us as consultants.
