This week, we will be joined by Susanna Harris, PhD (she/her) to talk about Graduate Student Mental Health.

A full-text transcript of this episode is available via google doc.

At the 37:30 mark, Liesl discusses a technique to calmly call out those who say inappropriate things in meetings. This technique of saying “ouch”, is meant to be used as a way for someone with power to bring attention to themselves and correct the situation, while keeping marginalized groups safe. We recognize that some organizations have misused this technique and not allowed the correcting portion of the technique to take place. We believe that using this technique in full with the original intent is still a valid method of standing up for others when you can.
