An hour before the city-wide curfew was instituted in Los Angeles, Associate Director of BLD PWR Lacy Lew Nguyen Wright sat down in our “mobile studio” - Christian’s car - to discuss the state of the LA protests from the frontlines, the role of her actor/activist boss Kendrick Sampson, and a summary of hope for the Asian American community during this time of social upheaval. We framed discussion around intersectional solidarity, identifying community strongholds and leaders, and the prioritization of mental health during civic unrest.
