The last two days we have featured new shows, but today we will go back to one of my favorites, Have Gun Will Travel.
This exciting western features the fascinating character Paladin, who is a traveling gunfighter in the late 1800s. He lives in the Carlton Hotel in San Francisco where he has a close friendship with his assistant/bellboy Heyboy. Paladin was a complex and sophisticated character who was well-educated and well-spoken, and he often found himself in moral dilemmas as he tried to balance his personal code of honor with the demands of his profession. The show was popular during its original run from 1957 to 1963 and has continued to be remembered as a classic of the Western genre.
On this particular episode when Paladin returns home to the hotel he finds a snooty desk clerk who informs him that Heyboy has been fired for not showing up to work for a few days. Due to the common racism against asian immigrants in the area, the hotel never even tried to see if anything happened to him.
