An Outline for Conflict Resolution (Maybe)
Manage episode 356145701 series 3340941
Mark and I follow up on what we discussed in Episode 21. We come up with a plan on how to solve conflicts within our family.
How do you make a plan?
Take time to identify the following components:
- Who-Who are the key players involved in the conflict?
- What-What actions or behaviors created the conflict? What is each person's part?
- When-When does this conflict occur? Is there a pattern when a conflict happens?
- Why- Look in the mirror-How much of this conflict did I cause?
- How-How do we shift a behavior to take a step into resolving the conflict in a positive way?
How do we use this plan? When a conflict arises, follow these steps:
- Take some time away to calm down. When our emotions go up, our intelligence goes down and we can't be successful in problem-solving.
- Each person takes time to identify the who, what, where, when, why, and how.
- Set up a meeting time to discuss what you jotted down. It doesn't have to be in that moment.
We'd love to hear how this has worked for you. What have you tried, and what worked? What didn't work?
