(Intro & piano music)
Παρά (para) in both ancient and modern Greek is a preposition and it means 'on the side' or 'across' Δόξα (doxa) in ancient Greek meant 'belief' or 'opinion'. The combined word in philosophy meant,' the opposite of logic that might entail some truth, difficult for the average mind to grasp' . In literature it was the collection of unexplained events or personal anecdotes and in science, anything that is still unexplained but is being researched (for example, in the old days that would be the shape of the earth). The word came to English from Latin, in the 1500, and it only meant 'a different opinion'. In the 1900 the notion of absurdity in one's statement was attached to it, and stayed. ΠΑΡΑΔΟΞΟ/PARADOX
