Episode 120: In this Equestrian Author Spotlight, you'll meet Cheryl L. Eriksen.

Cheryl is an author and blogger who has been involved in multiple areas of the horse industry for over twenty-five years. A student of equine behavior and communication, she has experience as a horse midwife, equine assisted therapy facilitator, veterinary assistant, and horse trainer.

Cheryl is the author of the award-winning memoir, Follow Me, Friend, a true story about her struggle with undiagnosed PTSD and the healing power received through the special connection she shares with her mare, Farletta.

Cheryl's other creative endeavors include the blog, Peace Horse Journey, which explores her concept of horse-guided self-discovery and how equine behavior can be influenced by what human beings bring to the relationship.

She also writes the Sputter Moo Breyers blog which dives into the stories and history of the model horses in her collection, and the real horses they represent.

Cheryl currently spends half the year working as a horse midwife, delivering foals and caring for mares and their newborns for various Thoroughbred farms in Central Kentucky. In the off season, she focuses on her writing, book events, and speaking engagements.

Saddle up for a moving conversation about living with post-traumatic stress disorder—and healing through the power of the horse-human relationship.
