Manage episode 373114372 series 3487823
This week, we talked to Alex Edds, Head of Sustainability for LaSalle Europe, on how real estate asset managers can embark on the journey towards a net zero building portfolio. The regulatory landscape in the EU and UK is changing fast, with time ticking for most properties and buildings to become compliant to the new energy standards. The EU Green Deal, the Taxonomy and the UK Government are mandating properties to meet the IPPC recommendations. These are the chances and challenges that Alex deals with as a person responsible for sustainability at one of the largest asset managers. He spoke to us about:
👨🎤 how during his career he sometimes felt like being seen as the crazy, green kid in the corner of the corporate world that nobody really wants to talk to
🚀 finding points of acceleration in a rather risk-averse industry
💰 in order to make impact at scale you need to be talking to the source of the money
📖 that well-drafted regulation can really be a catalyst for change
🍀 how the sustainability aspects is today bleeding into all product and company considerations
