For the very first episode of the Delivered Lumens podcast, I’m joined by Erin McDannald, the CEO of Lighting Environments. Erin is one of the most forward-thinking leaders in the lighting industry. What she understands more than many is how important the role of technology is not just in our buildings but in our culture.

More than simply understanding it, Erin is putting that understanding into practice. As you’ll hear in the episode, Erin will explain that lighting is the natural building layer to support the internet of things in the built environment. That’s why she’s invested so heavily in lighting controls through the development of the LE app, designed to make control of lighting, along with other building systems more intuitive and complete.

But Erin’s interest in the merger of light and technology goes beyond lighting controls and takes us into the metaverse. Erin walks us through digital twinning, using gaming environments to interact with virtual spaces, and how these virtual spaces will enhance the value of our real spaces.

Along the way, we touch on the pandemic, the effects of light on health, and why we need to have a more sophisticated understanding of our working environments if we’re going to grow the value of light in the future.
