Welcome everyone to another episode of the For Stars Podcast, featuring Head Coach of Rutgers Women's Rowing, Mr. Justin Price. This episode entails all of the characteristics involved within running a NCAA Division 1 crew team, and how he as a coach aims to influence his athletes in a positive manner. Price resembles one who genuinely cares about the overall health of the athlete, and being a great teammate to one another to not only advance the team, but the betterment of the individual in all avenues while at Rutgers and graduating from the university.
Price spent his college years studying and rowing for UCLA, going back to coach the Bruins this time on the Women's Rowing front after his time in the role of a Graduate Assistant at Notre Dame while in Law School. He was the Head Coach at LMU on the Women's Rowing team for one year before leading the Scarlet Knights where he has been for quite some time, and doing great things!
We discuss how important team culture is to his staff and program as a whole, his take on recruiting, metrics are not everything, future of rowing in America, how his program scouts athletes from all around the world, conference realignment within intercollegiate athletics and the Big 10, as well as the addition of powerhouses USC, UW, and his own alma mater, UCLA, now apart of the conference, answering questions asked by the viewers in our Q&A, goals and schedule for the upcoming 2023-2024 season, and more.
