“The Greatest Writers in Comics” (Part One) MOSTLY concerns people who work for “the big 2” meaning Marvel and DC, however within that framework we will discuss everyone from iconoclasts to “jobbers” as the Cartoonist Kayfabe guys say. There are also people who can do both superhero AND independent “mature” work with equal aplomb. We will speak with some nuance about what these men and women accomplished in the formative years of comics, building the giant shoulders on which contemporary comics stand. We try to determine exactly what constitutes the beginning of “modern” comics and what qualifies as an actual evolution or revolution in comics. Dig in cuz part one’s a whole meal, but just know there’s much more to come!
