In this episode we had the privilege of speaking with Dr. Bradley Block, the founder of the Physician’s Guide to Doctoring Podcast. Dr. Block, a private practice otolaryngologist, came to recognize that establishing a strong patient rapport was the key for building trust, optimizing productivity, and finding fulfillment in his medical profession. In his attempt to improve his doctor-patient communication, he scoured available resources but came up empty-handed. This inspired him to create the Physician’s Guide to Doctoring podcast.
Dr. Bradley Block speaks with Dr. Arpita Gupta DePalma and Dr. Michael Hersh, exploring his journey toward becoming a more efficient, effective, and intentional communicator when interacting with patients. They delve into the significance of assessing encounters that don't go as planned and getting curious to understand the reasons behind those situations. They go on to stress the importance of acknowledging our own humanity and recognizing that we may not always perform at our absolute best during every patient visit—and that this is perfectly normal. Tune in to discover valuable insights on how to approach patient interactions with greater mindfulness and purpose.
