From the minute I met Coach Pederson, I knew he was working on something special at Coastal Carolina. His track record speaks for itself with 20 years of Coaching and 15 trips to the NCAA Postseason Tournaments. The thing that jumped out during our talks was his passion for the game. He spoke with enthusiasm about the program and building a winning culture. More importantly, he spoke about how much he cares about seeing his players grow as people and be the best they can be. Near the end of our conversation we talked about his goal for people to come watch the team because he knows his players have worked so hard...leading with heart and altruistic goals always. We’re with you Coach!

Some show highlights:

-Filmed from the HTC Center on the Coastal Carolina campus, it was such a combination of pride in the school (Rob is a CCU grad), excitement and anticipation for a great season

-Coach Pederson had offers from other schools before picking CCU, but he loves the school and the Conway/Myrtle Beach area so Coastal was the pick

-He has over 400 college basketball wins at a head coach

-When he was younger he did not aspire to be a women’s basketball coach, but he said the women’s enthusiasm for the game is so inspiring that he would not rather coach anything else

-Before and after our interview, we were able to see his interaction with the players and saw the mutual respect between both player and coach

-In life we can often benefit from visual cues – for Coach P, he looks to the arena rafters where he envisions winning banners for the Women’s Basketball program for years to com+me

-Turns out Kevin is an avid sports fan enjoying many sports including basketball, football and baseball

-In year one, the CCU Women’s team outperformed expectations; in year two with the addition of some new high level recruits the team has goals to make a mark in the postseason

-The team plays a high-energy, press style defense – full of on-ball pressure from end to end of the court...these ladies are conditioned and the style of play will be fun to watch

-He gives credit to his entire staff in the quality of the program. It was refreshing to see the Head Coach praising the staff and players as much as he does

-The CCU home opener is on 11/22 at 4 PM at the HTC Center in Conway, SC. Everyone, please come out and support this fine group of players and coaches! Chants Up!!
