When you finish School or Uni you are an individual that either has a job to try and keep an income, or you start making steps towards calving out a career for yourself. For Tori Allen who is the founder of her self titled company, Tori Allen - a Creative Studio that specialises in events, activations and celebrations, it started with Tori working as a visual merchandiser retail, then a floral pop up shop, and custom floral arrangements for events from her apartment.

Now it’s a big business with staff, National events, and a long list of returning clients, all the while Tori was getting married and having 3 children and juggling the trajectory she started when she was an individual in her 20’s. But once you have a partner and kids, there is more to contemplate and it’s fair to say, compromise on.

For Tori, it was time to follow her husband’s lead with his work commitments, as well as following her internal inkling that something had to shift and a desire to be more present with the kids - so they accepted a work placement in Fiji committing to at least a year and a grand adventure.

Fast forward to now, and ‘Bula Time’ has forced Tori to slow down from the racy urban life that running an events business in a city is, to a much more simpler slower family life.

Whilst still running the business from a far, the ultimate sea change has shone new reflections on how sometimes you don’t always need to keep on the same trajectory, and exploring new ways of raising a young family, and what work could be in your life, can lead to a new lease on life.
