En tidig decembermorgon 1984 vaknar invånarna i den indiska staden Bhopal av larmet från Union Carbides kemiska fabrik. När invånarna skräckslagna beger sig ut på gatorna för att se vad som står på omsveps de av ett tjockt gasmoln som snabbt och obevekligt lämnar ond bråd död efter sig. Något har gått otroligt fel på fabriken den natten som ledde till en av historiens största utsläppskatastrofer.
