Manage episode 398159993 series 3393020
Who hasn't felt bombarded by the relentless marketing of the latest wonder drug for weight loss? It's like every time you scroll through your social media, there's another jaw-dropping transformation from a celebrity or public figure. Oprah looked great at 'The Color Purple' premiere and has credited her slender figure to a semaglutide drug. Semaglutide is a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP1) receptors, more commonly known as Ozempic and Wegovy in the public eye.
In this week's podcast, Dr. Patel and I talk about Ozempic—how it's used, who it's good for, and its skin-related side effects like loose skin and hair loss.
In this episode:
- What is semaglutide/Ozempic? (6:01)
- How are these medications administered? (9:24)
- Various ways to manage 'Ozempic face'? (15:13)
- Does the 'Ozempic face' go away? (19:39)
- Alternative for weight loss beyond this medication (24:03)
