Parenting can be an incredible privilege and joy to experience. It can also be one of the most emotionally demanding responsibilities you’ll ever take on. And if you are a parent, you know it’s usually a mix of both on any given day.

In this episode, I’ve invited Christopher Keck, LPC, DBH, and President and CEO of Open Hearts Family Wellness to help us explore what makes the parent-child relationship so powerful and so complex. We’ll unpack how our reactions to our child’s behavior can reveal what parts of our hearts are still in need of healing. There is always work to be done on the journey of becoming more present in our parenting. But there is even more hope and redemption when you invite God into the process.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why it’s fair to say that most parents are doing the best that they can
  • How unresolved issues from childhood can surface in our parenting
  • What we can learn from drill sergeant and helicopter parenting styles
  • Why we need to understand that shame is a secondary emotion
  • What you need to know about God’s heart towards parents
