E34: Interview with Stuart Cumming
Stuart is a Primary School Principal and Major in the Australian Army. In this episode, we talk about the power of building and maintain effective relationships. Stuart candidly shared some stories of how he was able to foster strong relationships that came back to serve him 20 years later.
Stuart also discussed mentorship and how we should be giving opportunities of growth and promotion when we see potential in our people. We also talked about how we impact others without realising and that deep seated joy that comes from helping others. The topic of following opportunities was also discussed that showcased how we can make the most of different opportunities when we are brave enough to step outside of our comfort zone.

Stuart Cumming Bio:
Stuart Cumming has worked as Primary School Principal and Teacher in schools across WA including The Gascoyne, Pilbara, Kimberley, Goldfields, Wheat Belt and South West and the United States of America. Stuart is also currently active and serving as a Major in the Australian Army as an Active Reservist having enlisted in 1980.
He describes himself as a home handyman having self-built 2 small homes. He is an active Amateur Radio operator and is currently learning Morse Code. Stuart has a passion for the outdoors and bringing nature-based experiences to children many of whom have limited opportunities to experience nature first hand.
Stuart and his Wife Jennifer have 5 sons who all share his passion for the outdoors and 3 grandchildren with a fourth on the way. Stuart enjoys cricket, snowboarding, kitesurfing, hiking, camping, travelling and four wheel driving.
