Psychologists have suggested that choice paralysis (fear of making the wrong decision) is a cause of anxiety. Barry Schwartz, author of The Paradox of Choice: Why More Is Less, explains that:
1. By having more choices, we make poorer decisions.
2. Too much choice causes paralysis, unable to make any decisions at all.
3. We spend more time thinking about the choices we didn’t make rather than being satisfied with the ones we made.
This is why I had to create a personal North Star. An ethos that represents my values in the present and the direction I want to take my life.
