Reflecting on Black History Wales, the BOMB is in conversation with Steve Khaireh MBE, who is one of Cardiff's self-less youth and community workers. Steve has contributed to some of the most impactful initiatives that will long live in the personal and professional development of many upwardly mobile people in Wales.
Steve is proud of his Somali heritage and shares many stories of some prolific characters from the Horn, who have contributed to UN work, biochemistry, and founders of early progressive moves toward race relations and youth work.
As the UK's earlies Black settlers, Somali seamen were the backbone to urban harbours, after leaving their nomadic lifestyles to settle in dense urban sea ports, Steve is keen to ensure their stories are heard and their legacies are not forgotten.
This is an enchanting conversation of, serendipity, legacy and UNITY.
Steve, says he is not interested in intentionally leaving a legacy, however his legacy will remain to be seen in the lives he sowed into, whether he likes it or not.
Steve Khaireh, you are a part of Back History Wales.
Thank you for all you do!
