Ironically, both Jill and Linda had different understandings of self-care and what that meant when planning for this episode. It makes for a fun discussion and means the conversation darts around several different points, including:

  • The landscape of self-care talk for self-care's sake.
  • How self-care isn't about putting your own needs ahead of others.
  • Self-care isn't typically about treats or pampering.
  • Self-care and selfishness.
  • Self-care isn't a list of behaviors; what constitutes self-care depends on the situation.
  • Self-care involves a lot of the self-talk, not just the external things that other people see.
  • Self-care isn't just by yourself, it's often social interactions and connections.
  • It isn't a one and done situation.
  • Others' understanding of what is self care for me- having to defend/explain that something is self care.

We would love to hear from you, it always encourages us to know you are listening along! Please reach out to us at muckedupmyselfcarepodcast@gmail.com with any questions, suggestions, or comments from this episode.

Until next week – we hope you can unstuck your muck!
