On today’s intimate solo episode, I begin to peel back the layers behind my put-together exterior to reveal my truth, my experiences, and my trauma. Born from a sense of feeling misunderstood from an early age, I want this podcast to truly highlight who Yanina is, both the good and the uncomfortable. In the midst of coming from Venezuela to my tumultuous childhood, I experienced my share of trauma which taught me to conceal my struggles from others, even from my closest friends. With a non-existent support system, I was thankful to introduce therapy and church at a young age which helped reshape my mindset. As life progressed into my early 20s, I ended up losing myself and realized I must make a change.
Restarting at age 25 was hard, to put it lightly, but through journalling and my time at a trauma center, I began to find beauty in the process of finding out who I am, what I love, and where I want to be in life. There are so many different versions of ourselves and so many opportunities in this life that once we break down our walls, we can truly start to rebuild. If you’re going through something hard, just remember that nobody has it all together, everyone’s timelines are different, and asking for help is a beautiful thing!
