Chuck Meyers, originally from Whiting, Indiana, near Gary and Chicago, grew up in a blue-collar, diverse community with a large Eastern European population. Despite his background as a class clown and facing expulsion from high school, he later pursued a career in nursing, working in Chicago as an ICU nurse. Inspired by comedians like Eddie Murphy and Def Comedy Jam, Chuck eventually left the Midwest to explore stand-up comedy, blending his healthcare experiences with humor. Frustrated by harsh working conditions for nurses in Indiana, including overwork and poor pay, Chuck moved to California seeking better opportunities. After a pivotal shift, he expedited his nursing license and relocated to Hollywood, where he immersed himself in the local comedy scene while working at USC. His observations at the Comedy Store inspired him to develop his own comedic material based on personal stories and challenges. Chuck initiated his comedy journey in San Diego, encouraged by supportive peers and family, and launched his successful show "Dose of Laughter." Despite challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, including adapting to virtual and underground venues, he continued to innovate and expand his comedic endeavors. Chuck integrates music therapy with humor, recognizing the therapeutic benefits of laughter in healthcare settings.
