The Anointing vs. The Presence of God

When you are pursuing God, it's important to recognise which dimension of God you are going after. In this teaching, Prophet Hari brings a perspective and an understanding, so your pursuit of the Presence and anointing of God is well defined.

In Acts 10:38, we read that God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power; there is an intentional distinction being made. The word 'anointing' is an action, where Jesus was being anointed with God Himself, the in-dwelling of the person of the Holy Spirit. There was a power that proceeded from the presence of God, which enabled Jesus to do good and perform miracles, because God was with Him.

When God is with an individual, there is evidence. Can you produce proof that God is with you? The Kingdom of God is not one of words alone but also of power and results. We must become a group of people that can produce tangible results.

There are two important aspects of God:

The Presence

We serve an omnipresent God, but His omnipresence is not necessarily evidence that He is with us. The proof of His Presence comes when you have a personal awareness and an active relationship with Him.

When you are born again, the first dimension of God’s presence is being baptised in the Holy Spirit; God comes to dwell with and in you. You enter a relationship with God and now He becomes your Father.

The person of the Holy Spirit is the most precious gift a believer can have in their life. He is their protection and favour. God not only gives a perspective but the real person of the Holy Spirit.

The Anointing

After receiving the greatest gift which is the person of the Holy Spirit, comes other spiritual gifts.

The anointing is grace from God that comes upon you to do things that weren't possible for you before. This supernatural grace has abilities, power and information attached to it.

Children of God need both aspects; the presence and the anointing to be able to function effectively as a vessel that can be used for God.

In Exodus 31, we read that God called a man named Bezalel and filled him with the Spirit of God and also with the wisdom and expertise required to build the Temple of God.

The presence of God feeds you whereas the anointing of God feeds others. The anointing is designed to flow from the inside to the outside; it's for function and for the benefit of others.The Presence is for you, for your personal victories, edification and growth in Christ.

With the Presence comes the anointing and gifts, but you must never disconnect yourself from the Giver of the gift.

Sin and the Presence of God cannot co-exist, but the anointing works differently. An individual can be anointed and still be unable to overcome sins because of the lack of the Presence of God ministering in that area of struggle.

Lucifer fell from the Presence of God but got to keep his gifts and anointing because the callings and giftings of God are without reproach. The reality is that it is possible for someone to lose the Giver and still keep the gifts; lose the Father, and still keep the inheritance.

When the gift is connected to the Giver, the focus is on the Giver. But when the gift is disconnected from the Giver, divine results can still be produced that appear like God but are not from God.

We need the gifts and anointings of God but it cannot come at the cost of the Presence. May your life produce evidence of the Presence of God!
