Courageous Codas: Examining Amos's Literary Influence - Jun 23, 2024 - In this shiur, we examine several broad issues of prophetic oratory and rhetoric, focusing on the way that many prophetic books conclude with an upbeat epilogue; identifying some salient features of Amos's epilogue, we suggest that he created a literary - and, perhaps, hortatory - model which was adopted by later prophets and sages. The shiur was given in the context of the SAR-sponsored Yemei Iyyun in Tanakh and was given in memory of our dear friend, Ari Levine. ארי בן מנחם צבי ז"ל.
