If you've seen the iconic purple book with the emoji on it, or even read it for yourself - then I've got a treat for you today! Joining me on the podcast is Yomi Adegoke, multi award-winning journalist and author of numerous books including her debut novel "The List". As a journalist for The Guardian and British Vogue, she covers topics like race, feminism, popular culture and how they intersect, as well as class and politics and so our episode today builds brilliantly on all of these ideas. Living in a world where something you wrote decades ago online can come back to bite you, we're diving into whether this is a good thing, why Yomi doesn't share much about her personal life on social media and how transitioning from writing non-fiction to fiction brought up insecurities she hadn't expected.
Yomi and I are talking about:

  • Yomi's inspiration for her book, "The List"
  • Cancel culture and declaring views we hold
  • Life online as an author in the public eye and the boundaries we hold
  • How Yomi became a critically thinking writer
  • Doing things we haven't done before or are bad at

You can connect with Yomi on Instagram @yomi.adegoke or Twitter/X @yomiadegoke. You can buy "The List" here and at all other bookstores.
