Despite being the third largest cat in the world, the jaguar is the least studied species among the big cats. Oncafari was set up to promote environmental conservation and contribute to socio-economic development through ecotourism and scientific research.
My guest Lili Rampim is also known as THE MOTHER OF THE JAGUARS. Lili is both Oncafari's lead field biologist and Caiman’s operations coordinator - her work lies at the intersection between Ecotourism, Reintroductions and Science.

Thanks to Oncafari's ongoing work to get wild jaguars habituated to safari vehicles in the Pantanal it has become the best place in Brazil to spot the feline. Once a Jaguar, or any type of wildlife is somewhat 'habituated' to the presence of human beings inside the safari vehicles they no longer see 'humans' as a threat and this facilitates Ecotourism.
