Today's podcast:

European military commanders warning of imminent war with Russia (within the next 2 years).

With that backdrop the NATO conference took place this week in Washington where President Joe Biden's mental acuity continued to be questioned and Canada increasingly came under pressure from senior U.S. government, as well as other NATO officials demanding this country invest at least 2% of GDP into military spending immediately. What do we make of Trudeau's assurance Canada will reach that objective by 2032, but with no details provided?

Also on the table continuing NATO spending and providing armament to Ukraine in its ongoing war with Putin's Russia. - Is the West on the cusp of full out war with Russia and perhaps China?

Guest: Dr. Christian Leuprecht. Professor at Royal Military College and Queen's University. Editor of the Canadian Military Journal. Previously Eisenhower fellow at the NATO Defence College in Rome. His latest book is Security, Cooperation, Governance. Published by the University of MIchigan Press.

MAID. Medical Assistance in Dying. Canadian federal law Bill C-7 allows a person in Canada who meets specific medical/health criteria to be granted MAID. Still contested by various individuals and groups, increasingly Canadians are dying with a physician's or nurse practitioner's direct assistance. We speak with a BC family doctor who has, by her own estimate, helped more than 400 patients to die.

Guest: Dr. Ellen Wiebe. Former family physician, now co-director of the Willow Clinic in Vancouver and board member and research director of the Canadian Association of MAID Assessors and Providers.

Op ed: University of Windson shamefully caves to anti-Israel protesters. Are Canadian universities true hotbeds for antisemitism and how to address?

Guest: Avi Benlolo. Founder and CEO of the Abraham Global Peace Initiative

Something's Rotten in Denmark at least with that country's livestock carbon tax. Beginning in 2030 Denmark's livestock farmers, as in cattle, sheep and pigs, will be forced to remit a carbon tax for their farm animals farts and belching. Might it be possible that Canada, without fully considering the impact, would introduce a similar tax here?

Guest: Professor Sylvain Charlebois. Senior director. Agri Foods Analytics Lab, Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia
