24:55Text “Do people even want to know about some of these issues? Because I think some of the meat production concerns, it's kind of like people would rather in some cases, I think some people might not really want to know all the nitty gritty. They don't want to know how the sausage is made. That poses an interesting question and challenge about how you communicate about some of these issues, when maybe there's a resistance among a subset of people who don't want to know more.” - Patti Truant Anderson This is the fourth episode in a special four-part series where we go deep into the food system with some of the brightest minds from Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future, an interdisciplinary center based out of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. One of the reasons that we did this series is because we're about to enter another four years with the Trump administration; and last time, as we know, the Trump administration was pretty terrible for the food system in terms of climate, public health, worker safety, and of course, for the animals. This conversation is with Patty Truant Anderson. Patty is a senior program officer at the center. Part of her work at the Center focuses on public opinion polling around the food system. These polls can inform decisions by lawmakers. The great news is we're not nearly as polarized as it might seem. There is a lot of hope in the results. 1:39:42It's approaching the time we get excited about college basketball. We're looking ahead to the Mariners and it's not the players or managers that are the issue - it's the owners. Today is a somber day with some significant losses in the sports world. Stewart Mandel, The Athletic says the 12-team CFB Playoff achieved its goals of keeping more fans engaged throughout the post-season. Will we continue to see the SEC out of the title game? Desperation drives NIL and NIL drives everything now. Stewart remarks the parity that NIL has brought to college football - while deep pockets have the advantage, it is open to everyone. Plus, more players are staying in college longer because they'll make more money. Stewart takes us through the transfer portal moves around the country. The sports world is mourning some greats today in baseball's Bob Ueker and Sonics' Gus Williams. Ian pays tribute. Jordan Morris, Seattle Sounders tells Ian about his relationship with Paul Arriola, new addition to the team and what he and Jesus Ferreira bring to the pitch. He tells us what separates the Sounders from the rest of MLS and what makes playing here in Seattle special. He says the core group, getting hot at the right time and understanding what it takes to come through in big moments are all a recipe for success for the team. Corbin Smith, Seahawks Maven and Locked on Seahawks gives us more insight on the Seahawks search for an offensive coordinator. More names emerge and Corbin tells us who he thinks is the leader in the clubhouse, as well as why certain coaches fit here in Seattle. The Daily Power Play! 1:48:23The Mariners still aren't doing much - so what could they do to win you back as a fan? Ron Francis took it upon himself to address rumors about the Kraken front office in a live television interview. That's a rarity in sports these days. Ian finds himself in a position to give Jerry Dipoto a break right now. Ownership is more responsible for the woes. What could the Mariners do to win you back as a fan? We listen back to Chris Crawford and Nathan Bishop, who tell us what it would take for them. 1:10:33After watching last night's game between the Rams and Vikings, Ian ponders how far away the Seahawks really were from the postseason. Hugh Millen had an in-depth breakdown of Geno Smith yesterday and it tells us a little more about what the Seahawks might do. Between that and what we saw from Sam Darnold last night, it shows how much of a quarterback starved league this is.The Daily Power Play takes us through the latest with the Kraken. Mollywhop Time! Chris Crawford and Nathan Bishop join us and avoid talking Mariners by begrudgingly talking Notre Dame football for a minute. We get to the nothingness that has been the Mariners' winter. They're not surprised Seattle wasn't a finalist, but it raises an eyebrow that the didn't even have a seat at the table. Chris doesn't want people to look down on Donovan Solano, despite the disappointment over the lack of a bigger move. Nathan thinks it's cool that he's here in Seattle and that the Mariners are better with him than without him. The only downside is that this likely means Justin Turner isn't coming back.…

1:39:13We've got Monday Night Football tonight! Roki Sasaki has been speaking to teams and although the Mariners haven't been named as one, we know they're interested. This feels like the last move they can make. Pete Carroll's name will continue to pop up in coaching searches. Is Mike Tomlin's time up in Pittsburgh and how does that parallel Carroll and John Schneider's tenures? Is a winning season without contending a success? When Roki Sasaki makes his choice of team to sign with, how much will the winningness matter as compared to the ability to contend? Is John Schneider holding the Seahawks back? The Daily Power Play! Hardcore Football with Hugh Millen! Hugh gives a breakdown of what a potential offensive coordinator would be looking for in a new team, such as the Seahawks. In that same vein, Hugh explores the offense the Seahawks had this year, beginning with Geno Smith. Hugh continues to analyze the offense, this time focusing on the wide receiver group. He focuses on DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Hugh wraps things up talking tight ends. 56:08The Mariners have still made #NoMoves - but if they land Roki Sasaki, and that's what they were holding out for, Ian says this would be a good offseason. If college athletes become salaried and don't have to attend school - what's next? Stewart Mandell, The Athletic gives his thoughts and insight on whether we'll see true salaried, non-scholarship players in college athletics. While people might think there are too many bowl games, the ratings reflect that we might need more! There is still quite an appetite for college football outside the top ranked teams in the country.
