Two movies titled Savage! enter, only one will leave (with that title) as Herman “OmegaPrime” Davis and Robert Rau match last week’s champ about a neanderthal martial artist with a blaxploitation movie from 1973 to see which should be called Savage!.
This challenger came special order in from New Jersey, because it wasn’t available to watch online, and Herman really wanted to see it after watching the trailer. The story is that of a mercenary who realizes money and women aren’t everything and decides to topple a corrupt government. It has some fun moments, but makes some weak arguments for the title. The lead character’s name is “Savage,” but not until he becomes the face of the revolution, plus he builds a completely useless Molotov cocktail launcher when he could simply use his arm as a better sling shot.
But will this movie have enough to rip the title out of last week’s champ? Listen if you dare.
Do you have an idea or even want to join the “There Can Be Only One” gang at their next viewing party? Email Robert Rau with your movie suggestion, the days you’re free to watch, and how much beer you can bring.
