John ran recon into Laos on Spike Team Idaho while assigned to the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam -- Studies and Observations Group, better known as MACV-SOG or simply SOG. John was a team leader -- known as a One -Zero. He talks with Bob and I about patroling with only one American and three or four South Vietnamese team members without any support.
