"It doesn't matter what substance a person uses. What matters is why they use it." Each addicted person has a close - much too close - relationship with the object of their addiction. Recovery and maintaining sobriety means breaking up with a close companion who, while toxic and destructive, has also been a source of comfort and security. How is a recovering person to navigate this most painful of breakups? One essential answer is Aftercare. After detox, inpatient, intensive outpatient, and even after outpatient care, recovery people need structure and support. Recovering people need other people to walk with them on their journey. Rhys and Josh talk with Michael Banis from Recovery Ways about the challenges involved in aftercare for extended sobriety, as well as the very tangible treatment resources that are available. If you or a loved one is struggling with addictions or any other mental health challenges, please reach out to one of the professionals in this podcast, or to any other resource mentioned, or any resource you know. Help is there for you! This episode features the following professionals: Rhys Pasimio - www.newpatterncounseling.com Joshua Moore - https://neurofeedbackcare.com/ Michael Banis - 908-590-2333 The Master’s in Counseling program at Multnomah University, Alternative Behavioral Therapy and New Pattern Counseling present this podcast as a resource for aspiring and current professionals, as well as members of the greater community.
