As a 13-year-old, Cynthia felt like she was pretty grown up and when a 19-year-old Ryan paid her a lot of attention online, she was flattered, but knew she had to hide the relationship from her family.
As a kid of divorced parents, she felt a bit neglected by them and when this man, Ryan, paid attention to her, at first it was like watering a withering plant. She enjoyed his focus on her and it helped ease loneliness.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t recognize his predatory requests and became embroiled in a relationship that impacted her life all the way through her first year in college.
