The world often feels rigged. And this episode is a wake-up call to recognize the barriers that exist for those who don’t fit the traditional mold. In this episode, which is a kind of tribute to my dear departed Dad, I recount some powerful lessons from the man who was a brilliant psychiatrist and my biggest champion. He taught me that if something feels off about the environment you’re in, it probably is—and it’s absolutely hella-not your fault. We dare to break into the uncomfortable truth that many workplaces are designed for a very specific demographic, leaving neurodivergent individuals, particularly those on the autism spectrum, feeling excluded. I share three stories in which my Dad imparted to me more than my fair share of his wisdom, and I'm hoping you to can feel empowered. You'll learn that we can advocate for ourselves and others to create a more inclusive work culture. Clap Hands is a podcast dedicated to talking about music we love.
Joseph and Henry get together to discuss DJ Shadow's 1996 masterpiece Endtroducing...: one of their favourite albums and a gamechanger for everything that came after.
In the first Clap Hands of 2015 (whoops) Henry and Joseph sit down to discuss The Hold Steady's incredible 2006 release Boys and Girls in America, as well as the joy of guitar music, getting old and Tony Hawk's Project 8. Enjoy! (Also Joseph references Ready To Die as a double album when he meant to reference Life After Death, what a dingus).…
All three of the Clap Hands team look back on 2014 and talk their favourite singles, albums and news pieces from the year and look to the year ahead. U2, Arianna Grande, Run the Jewels, Ex Hex, Solange and Jay-Z and the year of Taylor Swift are all covered.
On Clap Hands #2, Joseph and Otis Graham (journalist/Clap Hands writer/legend) talk about Queens of the Stone Age's 2005 album Lullabies to Paralyze as well as AC/DC, violent moshing and sensual vocals.
