Today’s guest a is a well distinguished African American lesbian and a successful businessowner, of course we are talking none other than DA (Donna) the Barber the owner of Whiskey Beard Barbershop. Donna walks as through the challenges of coming out as a lesbian to her peers and family. A movement more challenging for an African American than their white counterparts. In the United States, 44% of LGBT students persons of color have reported experiencing bullying based on their sexual orientation. Further, African Americans tend to disagree with LGBT civil liberties more than their white counterparts. Likewise, she talks about the challenges of starting a business mostly dominated by men. In the US only 16% of barbers are females. Donna goes on to tell us how she and her business survived the covid-19 epidemic. Dissatisfied with his role, he quickly transitioned from audit work to consulting. While a much better fit, it still didn’t quite hit the mark, and a few more moves had to be made. After careful reflection, Caleb took a step into mental coaching and in a short time moved from working with amateur fighters to both UFC and Bellator professional athletes. Episode 4 Interview With Guest Nick Hughes part 2 38:41

Nick Hughes is a former commando with the French Foreign Legion, one of the top paid bodyguards, and martial arts instructor. He holds black belt status in several styles of Karate, Aikido, Judo, Ju-jutsu as well as ranks in military unarmed combat and filipino martial arts. He has both boxed and kick-boxed professionally and competed in Judo competition internationally. As a bouncer in some very rough clubs, and a military police officer in the Legion, he learned first hand what martial art techniques worked and which ones didn't. That puts him in a unique position compared to a lot of instructors who are teaching what amounts to theory. Wanting to move up in the security world he decided to pursue a career in diplomatic security and quickly found out a background in Special Forces was going to be an asset. With that in mind he joined the French Foreign Legion as both a para-commando and military police officer. After leaving the Legion he worked for various agencies all over the world looking after clients such as members of the Saudi Royal Family, VIPs, businessmen and rock stars. During that time he began writing for Fighting Arts International about practical martial arts and teaching on various bodyguard training courses. Nick has appeared on Spike TV's "Deadliest Warrior" in the series penultimate episode about the French Foreign Legion versus the Gurkha. He popped up on Paladin Press' radar and filmed a series of instructional DVDs and began working on his 2nd book on self defense. Nonsense Self Defense, Mindset & Weapon of Choice - With Guest Nick Hughes 3.42 million people practiced martial arts in the U.S last year. How many of these 3.42. million are wasting their time? There is a very real problem among commercialized schools, namely high priced, low quality, fast paced padded and unqualified instruction. For fees, these schools offer you fast advancement and ranking n the martial arts. Too many people fall prey to this system and our guest Nicholas Hughes has much to say on this and answers many questions about himself. Nick Hughes is a former French Foreign Legionnaire, one of the top paid bodyguards, and martial arts instructor. He holds black belt status in several styles of Karate, Aikido, Judo, Ju-jutsu as well as ranks in military unarmed combat and filipino martial arts. He has both boxed and kick-boxed professionally and competed in Judo competition internationally. As a bouncer in some very rough clubs, and a military police officer in the Legion, he learned first hand what martial art techniques worked and which ones didn't. That puts him in a unique position compared to a lot of instructors who are teaching what amounts to theory. Wanting to move up in the security world he decided to pursue a career in diplomatic security and quickly found out a background in Special Forces was going to be an asset. With that in mind he joined the French Foreign Legion as both a para-commando and military police officer. After leaving the Legion he worked for various agencies all over the world looking after clients such as members of the Saudi Royal Family, VIPs, businessmen and rock stars. During that time he began writing for Fighting Arts International about practical martial arts and teaching on various bodyguard training courses. Nick has appeared on Spike TV's "Deadliest Warrior" in the series penultimate episode about the French Foreign Legion versus the Gurkha. He popped up on Paladin Press' radar and filmed a series of instructional DVDs and began working on his 2nd book on self defense.
