Dr. Patrice talks about feeling as if she was a single parent during the time when her 2nd husband was sick, and her continued process of grieving while raising her now 2-year-old daughter. Send us a text In our first episode in this series focusing on dating as a single parent, I share some of my own personal experience in preparing myself to date and lessons that I have learned during this process. There are special considerations that single parents have to be aware of when opening themselves up to date, especially being honest with the reasons why they want to start dating. I realize that my experience and insight are my own, so for the remaining episodes, I invited some of my friends to come on and share their journey as well. Send us a text As we are coming to a close with our series interviewing guests who have grown up in single-parent homes, I wanted to get a "female" perspective on growing up in a single-parent home. In this episode, I am speaking with Natasha Cozart, who not only grew up in a single mom home but is also an amazing single mom to 6 wonderful kids. Natasha's perspective on her childhood was different from what I have heard from other kids growing up in single-parent homes, however, it was refreshing. Listen in as Natasha's childhood shapes who she is today and how she parents her children as a single mother. As the best-selling author of Ratchet Mom, Natasha Cozart is often referred to as a modern-day superwoman. In business, she has partnered directly with CEOs, authors, celebrities, and entrepreneurs as well as experts in varied fields such as Internet Marketing, finance, relationships, spirituality, health, business, beauty industry, and theology to produce content, products, events, websites, and marketing promotions to take their businesses to the next level. Send us a text We are continuing our series by interviewing guests who have grown up in single-parent homes. In episode 3, I thought it would be fun to interview my son Isaiah, who is now 15 years old but has been in a single-parent home (with me of course) since he was in kindergarten. It was interesting to hear not only his thoughts but also his feelings on what it is like being in the home with me as the only parent. Though I didn't expect him to open up as much, he surprised me with some of the comments and reflections that he made. Overall, I was excited and thankful to have my son on to really have an open and candid conversation about what concerns him at this age. We also talked about some of what worked for him when he was younger as he began to recognize that the family structure he has in was different from others. I encourage any parent, especially single moms, to have open, truthful conversations with their sons to gauge where they are, what they are thinking, and how they are doing as it relates to them being in a single-parent-led home. Send us a text Our series starts with interviewing guests who have grown up in single-parent homes. Most often we hear single parents talk about their own personal journey raising their children solo, but rarely do we hear the experience, challenges, and stories of those who have been raised in single-parent homes. My guests take a deep dive in exploring their childhood as young men who did not have a male presence in the household. We explore the phrase that "only a man can raise a boy to be a man" and how this affects single mothers raising their young boys. If you are a single mom I encourage you to lean in and find encouragement as well as strategies that you can utilize in your home.
