Darkfall Rise of Agon Darkfall: Rise of Agon is being developed by players of the original Darkfall game and boy has that franchise had an interestingly troubled history. Join us as we dive down this interesting rabbit hole of an MMORPG franchise. Silent Hill f Silent Hill f has shown off some more footage and the game looks great. There's a few questions Tim and I have though. Why is Silent Hill now in Japan being chief among them. Obviously the devs behind Silent Hill have always been Japanese but Silent Hill has always been a location in the united states. So this seems like an interesting shift. Will it have a reason besides "we want it in Japan now."? Time will tell. Project [C4] What's left of the team that produced Disco Elysium has released a teaser for their next project code named Project [C4] aaaand that's about all we know so far. Bolt Graphics Zeus GPU A start up company called Bolt Graphics has announced a new GPU they're working on called the Zeus and make the bold claim that its 10x more powerful than the new RTX 5090. Bold claims from a company that could disappear in a few years. However, they're going to be demoing these insane chips at GDC in just a few days. The real question though, is "will this even be affordable?" Styx: Blades of Greed The master of stealth returns! A new Styx game has just recently been announced and I'm juiced. As a long term fan of all things stealth and a fan of the first two Styx games I can't wait to be re-emersed into the strange dark fantasy world of Styx to steal some shit and assassinate stupid humans! (That sounds bad out of context, oh well!) Unfortunately no release date currently but what they've disclosed so far has me very interested! Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 & 4 Remake Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 & 2 were such a massive hit that it was almost guaranteed we'd see this collection and now we've got a release date. I for one was always a bigger fan of THPS 3 and 4 but probably only because I was slightly older when they came out. Either way we cant wait to shred through Foundry and the Airport all over again and hopefully, if this one does well, maybe we'll get Underground 1 & 2 Remakes? Fingers crossed. Blades of Fire 505 Games is publishing the next game from legendary developer MercuryStream. With one of the best Castlevania games under their belt (Lords of Shadow) I think it's safe to say this game has great odds of being a fantastic experience. We're excitedly optimistic about this games potential. Game of Thrones Kingsroad This game has no business being as good as it is. For a freemium mobile/pc game Tim and I were both blown away at how good the game was. If you want to the first hour or so of gameplay head over to Patreon where I've uploaded that for members to view Fable Reboot Delayed out of 2025 A massive delay was announced for Fable pushing into a 2026 release window. This long a of a delay is quiet surprising. With Assassins Creed 4ish month delay they managed to make a lot of important changes. The game play looks a bit like The Last of Us in that it's third person and a shooter. The two devs working on this game added an interesting twist that has us raising our eyebrow. Let us know your thoughts. Batman Arkham Beyond? A recent rumor, and a leak from a few years back that has been scrubbed from the web, suggests that not only is Rocksteady back to doing what they do best, but very well could be working on A Batman Beyond game set in the future of the Arkham universe. All I can say is god I hope so. Gothic Remake Gothic has recently revealed some gameplay footage and (at the time of writing this) has a playable demo available on the Steam Next Fest right now!. Welp, neither is Kingdom Come Deliverance II and that game made its cost back in 24hrs. Once again it seems like the people who run these companies and straight up out of touch with their target market and consumers. Next Battlefield, reminiscent of Bad Company 2 A recent clip of gameplay from the next Battlefield game reveals its set in a modern setting and shows of intensely destructible environments (maybe thanks to Havok engine? Discussed in Episode 84 ) and seems reminiscent of the great times had in Battlefield Bad Company 2. Switch 2 Pricing Concerns With the event around the corner we still have concerns about the price around the Switch 2. The original switch STILL hasn't seen a price drop so will it when the Switch 2 comes out or will the Switch 2 be priced above the current model? There's a lot to discuss and not enough information available yet. All I can hope, is that if it's $399.99 hopefully they bundle it with a game. Today we've got a mix of news for you to include some struggles for Sony, the potential death rattle of Bioware, and some talk about Dune Awakening the survival game that might finally push the genre forward. Sony Woes Sony hasn't had a great few weeks. Between the broken launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's AND Spider-Man 2's PC launch they're not in a great graces with the PC crowd. They also recently decided to remove the PSN requirement for PC players which doesn't make any sense to Tim or I. Sony also has a pirate issue on PC and in my opinion it may be self inflicted. The Death Rattle of Bioware? Bioware has been gutted in the wake of the total failure that was Dragon Age Veilguard. It seems like pretty much everyone who touched that game has been let go. While that sounds bad it might have a small glimmer of light. Reportedly, what's left of Bioware is all "laser focused" on the next Mass Effect and the team is comprised of a small number of veterans from the previous games. This sounds good but we'll have to wait and see what they show whenever that happens. In my opinion, don't hold your breath... Dune Awakening Dune awakening is shaping up to be the best version of the survival game genre. Funcom is dedicated to "Making the game fit Dune not Dune fit the game" and that statement alone makes it clear they aren't fucking around. Tim and I talk a bit about a recent article from PC gamer discussing the first 7 hours of gameplay. In addition to this we discuss the difficulty of being interested in a game and wanting to know more but not wanting to know more so you can go in blind and experience the game without expectations. Xbox Developer Direct: Ninja Gaiden 4 & 2 Black Remaster Xbox recently held a Developer Direct where they announced Ninja Gaiden 4 and a Remaster of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black that is available now! Xbox has announced a new approach to funding games by not requiring that they only release on Xbox. This is good news for the industry because it means more games which is always good and with Ninja Gaiden 4 in the works SOLEY because of Microsoft funding I'd say this is the best decision they've made in two generations of hardware. The Return of the HAVOK Physics Engine In the PS3 and Xbox 360 days HAVOK was the go to engine for a vast majority of games. It's real world destruction physics made games like Battlefield Bad Company 1 and 2 a possibility along with a laundry list of other games. While other engines have come and been able to achieve most of what HAVOK once could they've returned to show their newest tech demo of their amazing engine as a plugin for UE5. I'm stoked and cannot wait to see this amazing engine back at work in games in the future. They want HOW MUCH for New Games?! A recent report suggests that analysts think games are too cheap. Far to cheap and it's insane how much they feel new games would cost. Hear our conversation and our thoughts on the topic. AMDs RX 8800 XT Rumors Word on the street is AMDs next card may be an absolute beast of a GPU and "potentially" significantly cheaper than the upcoming RTX 5090. Rumor mills are bosting up to a 45% increase in ray tracing performance over AMDs last gen RX 7800XTX. If they can pack that kinda performance into a sub $999 I'll be pretty damn impressed. Eternal Strands Eternal Strands announces a team up with the legendary developer behind Final Fantasy XIV and XVI Yoshi P. What the nature of this partnership is and how involved Yoshi P is with Eternal Strands seems intentionally vague but Yellow Brick Games is no stranger to industry veterans as they have multiple vets from the Dragon Age franchise on their team. I personally am looking forward to Eternal Strands release early next year. Player Unknowns Prologue The Devs behind the worlds first Battle Royal standalone game are working on a new upcoming survival game that will test and hone features they aim to implement in their Magnum Opus Project Artemis. Will this survival game be any good or will it be a flop? It's hard to tell right now but we'll keep an eye on it. We're back! sorry for the confusion on last week I did not properly convey to Tim what was going on and so there was some confusion on how the podcast should go but fear not there will be a follow up post to this one (scheduled for the same time) with Tim's audio from that lost episode. Now lets talk about this episode! Ashes of Creation Alpha 2 This is by no means the first time we've talked about AoC and this is actually one of our longest running topics on this podcast. Tim and I have been following the development of this potentially ground breaking, genre redefining MMO since it's Kickstarter in 2017. Both of us are incredibly hopeful that this MMO can deliver on it's promise and in just 3 days Alpha 2 wave 1 launches and you can buy access for $120. Now that sure sounds like a steep price and wave 2 in December and wave 3 in May are cheaper. I highly recommend at the very least, checking out this MMO if you haven't already I will likely be buying wave 3 access and Tim is highly considering buying Wave 2. We'll be sure to talk about it if and when we do! Red Dead Reality Redemption Once again the fans have to clean up after developers that are too short sided to give their communities what they want and deserve. An incredible moder has ALREADY released a free mod for the recently ported Red Dead Redemption that MASSIVELY improves the visuals of the game. It's not RDR 2 level but its pretty damn impressive and while I'm not forking over 50 bucks to Rockstar for a 14 year old game I'm highly considering giving them $10 when it goes on sale and installing this incredible mod when I do get around to playing it. Dragon Age Veilguard The final chapter of our coverage of this game. We likely wont ever mention it again but here you'll hear our first and possibly final impressions of this game and I must say I'm still not sure whether its a good game or not but I can say for sure it's not a good Dragon Age game. Bellow you'll also find a link to what I think is the most reasonable review of this game from a YouTuber called Skill Up. It's a 45 minute video but he doesn't just cast empty criticism at the game he shows you evidence and proof of the issues with it. I recommend anyone considering this game watches and really thinks about whether or not they want to pay full price for this game . Chronos The New Dawn Chronos The New Dawn is the next game from Silent Hill 2 Dev, Bloober Team. The Sci-fi horror shooter looks heavily inspired by Silent Hill 2 and looks great. No confirmed release date yet but if you're into suspenseful third person shooters that really scratch that Alan Wake, Dead Space, Silent Hill vibe I think this is one you'll want to keep an eye on. Denuvo "Doesn't Affect Game Performance" A recent Q&A with the creator of Denuvo states that Denuvo doesn't actually effect game performance and says that all the issues attributed to Denuvo are actually the developers bad choices. From bad QA not catching an issue in Tekken 7 to using some conflicting software in Resident Evil Village they're putting all the blame squarely on the shoulders of the devs not their software. Is it true? Maybe, maybe not. Tim and I have yet to play the game and while both of us were looking forward to it Chris warns us it might not live up to our hopes for it. Well we'll try to get some game time with it this week and do some follow up on the topic next episode. Bylina Tim Brings an interesting new title to our attention that looks really interesting. Based of Slavic folklore this game seems to blend these stories with an ARPG style of combat very reminiscent to Diablo, Path of Exiles and other ARPG games. The game doesn't have a release date yet other than a window of some time in 2025 but this may be one to keep your eye on. The Next Halo The newly branded Halo Studios put out a recent "trailer" where they said all the buzz fraises with little to no substance. The big take away here is Halo is moving to the Unreal Engine. What does this actually mean for the future of Halo? Will it go Multi-platform like we predicted? Will it have native VR support? Time will tell. Made by an amazing Ukrainian developer during an active invasion of their home the devs battled unimaginable mental, physical, and phycological stressors many of us will never even come close to facing. In the wake of Russia's attempted invasion they continued to make the upcoming title and Microsoft had the amazing foresight to record and make a documentary about the development of the game. Even if you have zero interest in purchasing the game I STRONGLY recommend you watch this roughly hour and a half documentary. The announcement of some big titles and a fantastic classic from the PS1 PS2 Era getting a beautifully done remaster so lets jump into it! Ghost of Yotei Lets jump right in with the much anticipated sequel to Sucker Punches Phenomenal Ghost of Tsushima. Set almost 400 years after the events of the first game Ghost of Yotei follows a brand new protagonist with a whole new setting and story. Not much is known yet about the game other than it has a release window of sometime next year. Either way there's no doubt in our mind this game is going to be amazing and a strong GOTY contender. Legacy of Cain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remaster A few weeks back Tim and I discussed a statue that seemed to suggest the potential for a Soul Reaver 1 &2 remaster and we got confirmation the game is coming in just 2 months! This franchise was one of my absolute favorites growing up and I cannot wait to play them again with the beautifully remastered graphics they've done. I immediately bought it on Steam. It will be available on a wide range of platforms so consider grabbing a copy and maybe we'll see a new one made in the future if this remaster sells well! Assassins Creed Shadows Not a lot of good news here, Ubisoft has decided to push the release of their new Assassins Creed game to February 2025 to give it more time for polish following the abysmal launch of Star Wars Outlaws. Personally I think February was a bad choice but we'll see how that plays out for them. Warhammer 40k Ugly Sweaters I don't get any kind of kick back for advertising this or anyone who decides to buy one. I simply saw this in our news source and thought they were cool so I bought one and wanted to share them with you. They seem well made and very nerdy so I'm sold. Space Marine II Warhammer 40k's newest game is a massive success and a phenomenal game. If you're at all interested in it I strongly encourage you to pick this game up I've had hours of fun playing both co-op and solo. NOTE: Links to the Campaign Ops Mod & Armor Unlock Mod Stasis A note worthy Isometric horror game set on an seemingly abandoned spaceship. I haven't had the pleasure of playing this one but its apparently been out for almost a decade. One of our very one Patrons brought this to our attention (Thanks Logan) and informed us that the dev is going back to retouch the game and update it for support on the Deck. The game is reasonably priced and looks to be a great value for the story it presents. Honestly, after it gets Steam Deck support this seems like a no brainer to add to your library. Hordes of Hunger An up and coming "survivalike(?) " whatever that is, game that looks like a combination of Dark Souls, Diablo, and Fable with Rogue Lite elements. Not much is very clear about this game currently but I'm intrigued by it that's for sure. QUICKFIRE NEWS! Halo Mega blocks game Project Haggar looked great and now I'm mad we never got it. Honki Starail is in fact getting a physical version Undefeated - a free to play Superman like game that looks better than any other Superman game. Stray Devs all resigned?! Like ALL of them. STALKER II The long awaited sequel to the cult classic game is finally upon us and I for one think its CLEAR contender if not a absolute winner for Game of the Year. Stalker II is an amazing game and if you're at all a fan of FPS I promise you will not be disappointed by this one. I wanna quickly say thank you to the team for taking the time to talk with me about development after the demo at PAX 24. Dragon Age Veilguard We've talked about this game a few times but with the recent release of an extra 22 minutes of combat and gameplay I figured it was worth bringing back into our line up. Gameplay wise it looks great I just cant get passed the awful snap chat filter they applied to the Qunari's faces. That shit will haunt my nightmares. Phil Spencer CEO of Xbox Phil Spencer was actually at PAX this year though I didn't make time to go to his panel. He apparently admitted that he's passed on some pretty big games that could have otherwise been exclusive to the Xbox ecosphere but doesn't regret the decisions. Good Morning CoinDroppers! Today we're talking about PAX West! I had the pleasure of once again spending Labor Day Weekend talking to developers and playing some amazing games to share with you here. The Occultist We discussed this game when it was announced though I believe it was only on the Patreon side. The Occultist is a new Indie horror game from Daedalic Entertainment with beautiful UE5 graphics and an interesting take on dealing with ghosts and ghouls. God Save Birmingham Recently announced and published by Ocean Drive Studio God Save Birmingham's Developer drives inspiration form the Sims like Zombie survival game Project Zomboid (a fantastic game in it's own right) with the setting of Kingdom Come Deliverance . Its a unique blend and could grow into an interesting survival horror game. War of Western Deep With art inspired by Disney's Robin Hood, gameplay inspired by Dragons Lair , and a story that draws inspiration from Game of Thrones meets Redwall this game is shaping up to be something very unique. Developer Eric Studer spoke with us at PAX about it and it quickly became a game I very much want to play. Kingdom Come Deliverance II I cannot praise the improvements made on KCD II enough. Beyond that Warhorse's PR Manager, Tobi so graciously gave me the full media treatment I've been chomping at the bit to get back too. I got the opportunity to play an additional hour long demo and really dive deep into the immersive world of KCD II. This game is shaping up to be my Game of the Year personally. Good Morning Coindroppers! I do apologize for the 1 week break with little to no notice but Tim and Mike both had some personal stuff going on and I was still dying from a celiac incident. BUT we're back and for the first time in over a month I'm healthy again! Today we're talking about Batman Arkham Shadow The new Arkham VR game for meta quest 3 gets a gameplay demo and while it graphically and thematically looks great I have some concerns of what look to be canned animations to me and not movement indicative of normal VR gaming. We'll find out in October. Dying Light: The Beast A stand alone Expansion for Dying Light 2 sees the return of Kyle Crane as he fights to take vengeance on the people who imprisoned him for 13 years. The game looks great if you're a fan of the franchise I think this will add some new fun twists to the game. Arc Raiders After falling off the face of the early in 2022 Arc Raiders has resurfaced with a new announcement trailer. The team have completely revamped the game and said "it wasn't fun" in it's previous version and is now an PvPvE extraction shooter. They've also ditched the free to play model and made it a $40 dollar game that will be live service. Today we're talking about a new upcoming game from Warframe make Digital Extremes, A recent investor call at Capcom where they displayed god level patients while bombarded by stupid investor questions and comments, and the insanely massive mod Fallout London. Soulframe Soulframe, despite it's addition of "soul" in the title, IS NOT A SOULS LIKE! Thank god because damn am I burned out of Souls games. Soulframe is going to be free to play like Warframe but that's about where the similarities end, this game looks pretty interesting and is supposed to be launching (likely in an early access state) some time later this year. Capcom, Surrounded by Idiots... Capcom had a recent investor call where they had to field stupid questions and comments like "Is Monster Hunter: Wilds going to be locked to these "non-portable systems?" and "Why don't you release the game early at the end of 2024 to capture end of the year profits?" The level of restraint Capcom showed with these people is impressive and if it was me I probably would have lost it and thrown someone out a window. Fallout London After years of development the long promised mod is available right now for free. Fallout London completely redesigns remakes the world of Fallout 4 with 90% new content (if not more). Including a 20hr long campaign and side quests all set with new assets that make it really feel like London in the Fallout Universe. Dragon Age: Veilguard We talked about DA: V briefly when it was finally shown off at the summer games fest but more and more this game is becoming a concern. It seems the team behind it is largely promoting how good the game is by bashing on the its predecessors which has me worried that they're disregarding all the great storytelling this game should be pulling from. I guess only time will tell. No Mans Sky Hello Games continues their unreal support for this game. Every single update for this game since launch has been free and it seems like there's no sign of that changing any time soon. The amount of good will Sean and Hello Games has bought with their unprecedented support is staggering and gamers at this point are practically begging to give Hello Games money for all their amazing work. Nobody Wants to Die Russ Bought Nobody Wants to Die as soon as it dropped and played it. He shares his thoughts on the Noirpunk narratively driven indie game with us at the close of this episode and it sounds like its a fantastic title if you want great voice acting and an intriguing story with some replayability. Assassins Creed Shadows (Plagiarism) Today we're talking about the troubling development of Assassin's Creed Shadows. I personally really wanted this game to be great and it very well still could be a fun game but now I feel the need to call this game AC:P Assassins Creed Plagiarism. There has been an alarming amount of stolen content added to this game from concept art to in game assets and even collectors edition items. It's not a good look for Ubisoft. Black State What appears to be a spiritual successor to the Metal Gear Franchise made itself known recently and the game looks pretty good. Unlike Alkahest, it actually adds a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen that tells you the footage is a work in progress and subject to change. I for one am looking forward to seeing how development on this title goes. Nobody Wants to Die Recently they demoed 10 minutes of gameplay and I'm juiced for it. 1940s vibes mixed with far future Cyberpunk is exactly what I need. Its Bioshock meets Arkham Asylum (In terms of being a detective) and I'm totally ready for it to be released TOMORROW! QUICK FIRE NEWS! Xbox Game Pass new tier that drops day one access.
