Cooking from scratch is rewarding - you know exactly what you are feeding your family, you can be proud of what you actually made yourself, but it’s also exhausting at times, especially when you are feeding a family every single day, sometimes multiple times a day. It truly is an endless cycle that takes time and energy. It can be easy to start feeling burned out and just want a break, but the reality is, people need to eat and you don’t necessarily just want to throw nutrition out the window and order frozen pizzas or throw your budget to the wind and start eating out a lot more frequently. Today, I want to talk about kitchen burnout, how you can pull yourself out of the slump if you feel like you’re already there, and give you some meal prep tricks to keep your kitchen routine simple, effective, and enjoyable. I pray that you find this episode encouraging today that if you are burned out in the kitchen, you don’t have to stay stuck there. There are practical things you can do to lessen your workload without sacrificing homemade meals. And, at the end of the day, it all comes back to mindset - finding purpose in the work that you do and making the shift to see working in your kitchen as a blessing to your family rather than one more chore. As 1 Corinthians 10:31 tells us, “Do everything for the glory of God.” That includes homemade meals for the ones we love! Thank you so much for joining me! If you have looked at ingredient labels lately, you might have noticed that seed oils - sunflower, soybean, corn, cottonseed, sometimes just under the name vegetable oil, are in just about everything, but there is still a lot of controversy about how these oils affect our health. In today’s episode we are diving into the world of nourishing, traditional fats, why they matter, how to use them in everyday cooking, where to source them, and how to make the switch without blowing your family’s grocery budget. This episode will give you the practical tips you need to make real, wholesome fats an essential part of your family’s diet. I hope this episode helps you find healthy, affordable fats that work for your family. This is not an issue that we should stress about, but just make the effort to make healthy swaps when we can. It’s that time again, we are turning a page into a new year and with that comes some new goals. And I’m not just talking about new year's resolutions that get broken after the first month. I’m talking about well-thought out goals that give actionable steps, followed throughout the year so you can look back and see how much progress you’ve made when the year is done. But, maybe like me, you’re feeling a bit stuck in your goal setting, because there are things that you want to do, but your goals seem so unachievable with little kids at home. How could you possibly learn or take on something new on top of caring for these littles ones? Today, I want to share some encouragement on how we can learn new things and achieve both our personal and homesteading goals even as busy moms with little kids. I hope that you find this episode inspiring towards what the new year might bring for your family. And just a reminder during this process, let go of the guilt and the comparison in your goal setting. Set goals that are realistic for you in the season and circumstances that God has placed you in. Focus on the task that God has placed in front of you for this year, and be proud of your own accomplishments as you work towards creating a better life for yourself and your family this year. I pray that God would give you wisdom in the areas you should work towards and that you can use goal setting to reduce overwhelm when it comes to building your homestead.
